What is an easy way to decorate my yard without attaching lights to the roof?

Help! All houses in my neighborhood is decorated and seem a Scrooge! I need a quick and easy project that will look good. I have no bushes and shrubs, but I have two oak trees in my garden. I lights wrapped around the base of the tree, but need a little more taste. I tried to bet the lights on the floor at the perimeter of the yard, but can not find none of the bets properly and some of the lights going in the wrong direction.
