What is the value of this Lionel train set?

I have a Lionel train model Chessie Flyer that was built in 1997. I only used a few times and is in great condition. Since the company is down, how much of this train will be worth it?

Lionel is alive and well, and processing products that are better than ever. modern era trains are not particularly valuable. Nobody collects them, however, and sets lower end (as the Chessie Flyer) probably never will be, especially collectible. In general, based on what I saw on the local train meets and on Ebay, brand new and unopened packages of 10-20 age tend to bring home half to 3 / 4 of the original MSRP. Opened and run sets get 1 / 4 to 1 / 3 of the MSRP. In my '98 catalog Lionel (I could not find a '97, but I doubt that prices changed much), the suggested price of establishing Chessie Flyer is $ 149.95. So that means that, realistically, you're looking at the system that is worth $ 40-50. As I said, not cling to it with the hope that it will be more valuable, or at least significant quantities. You are much better to let your children, grandchildren, neighbors, or play with it and have fun.
